1 Kings
|
The Book of 1 Kings was traditionally believed to be written by Jeremiah, in around the sixth century B.C. We don't know if Jeremiah actually wrote it, but he certainly would have had the qualifications to do so. He was a priest and prophet who would have had access to official government records of these events in the history of Israel.
It seems that the bookes of 1 and 2 Kings were compiled from the information contained in several other documents, including The Book of the Acts of Solomon (1 Kin. 11:41), The Book of Chronicles of the Kings of Israel, and The Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah. These last two books were the official records of the two kingdoms, when Israel was divided into the Nothern and Southern Kingdoms.
