Judges

The book of Judges covers the historic period of the nation of Israel from the time of Joshua, to the beginning of the kings. Just how long a period that was is a matter of dispute among scholars, but it is generally accepted that it is a period of three hundred to four hundred years. The book doesn't say who wrote it, or exactly when it was written; but Jewish tradition says it was written by Samuel, which is quite likely.
